Mary M. Shumaker, age 96, of Perrysburg, and formerly of Millbury, OH, died, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Mercy Health Hospital in Perrysburg.
Mary was born May 5, 1928, in Pandora, OH., the daughter of Harry and Anna (Ardner) Shumaker.
She was a 1947 graduate of Lake High School and worked 48 years for Benham Insurance Company, retiring in 2012.
Mary was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church where her family were founding members, and she was active in the Altar Rosary Sodality. She was a voracious reader, talented at embroidery and enjoyed word search books in later years.
Mary led a simple yet truly faithful and spiritual life serving God.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Clarence Shumaker and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Gordon.
Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews especially by her niece, Sandra Vroman (the late Harold J. Vroman) and her
great-nephew, Mark Merz (Dr. Jerome Webster) who have served as her primary caregivers.
Family and friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner Str., Walbridge, Ohio 43465 until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Committal will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery.
