2 arrested for theft at Walmart

Bowling Green police were dispatched to Walmart Tuesday for a shoplifting report.

When officers arrived around 5:13 p.m., they spoke to the employees who stated that they have been scammed multiple times by Demetrius Earl, 36, Flint, Michigan, and Areanna Coley, 29, Toledo. When officers entered the store, both subjects attempted to leave, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Officers caught up to both Earl and Coley in the store parking lot, placing them into handcuffs. When officers searched Earl, they found thousands of dollars in his pockets. Officers then searched Coley and found multiple narcotics. Earl and Coley were previously trespassed from all Walmart locations, according to the report.

Officers located a fake credit cards in Coley’s truck. She told officers that items inside the vehicle were stolen and that the credit cards they used in the store were fake, according to the report.

Officers located a bag inside the truck containing baby merchandise valued at more than $1,400.

Earl also got $40 cash back for a total theft of $1,477,08. Store employees told officers that Earl and Coley have over 50 theft incidents nationwide nearing $250,000,00, according to the report.

Earl was arrested for theft and warrants from two previous incidents. He was taken to jail.

Coley was arrested for complicity to theft and a warrant for a previous case. She was taken to jail.
