Driver killed in Rt. 6 crash

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 6 this afternoon.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office was notified at 3:43 p.m. of a crash on Route 6 at Range Line Road involving a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2020 International semi-tractor pulling a tanker trailer.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation showed the pickup truck was traveling south on Range Line Road and failed to stop at the stop sign. It entered the intersection and was struck by the semi, which was traveling eastbound.

The pickup became lodged under the semi and was engulfed in flames.

The operator of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Route 6 was closed in both directions for the investigation, which is ongoing.

Identification of the victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Assisting at the location were Weston Fire & Rescue, Bowling Green Fire Division, Central Joint Fire District, Milton Fire Department, the Wood County Coroner’s Office and Wood County District Police Department, Wright’s Towing and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
