Columbus man arrested for stolen vehicle, driving impaired

Bowling Green Police were dispatched Monday to the area of East Wooster Street and Interstate 75 for an automatic license plate hit for a possible stolen license plate.

The vehicle was parked at a pump at a nearby gas station, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Officers made contact with the driver, Adrian Sims, 52, Columbus. Officers smelled a strong alcoholic odor coming from Sims, according to the report.

When officers asked Sims where the vehicle came from, he stated that he had purchased the vehicle two weeks prior from a friend.

Sims told officers that he was headed to Michigan to get cannabis. Sims had glassy eyes, slurred speech and erratic behavior. Bags of marijuana were located in the rear of the vehicle, according to the report.

When officers asked Sims how much he had to drink, he stated that he had a glass of wine approximately two hours prior. Sims stated that he smoked one bowl of marijuana approximately five hours prior, according to the report.

Sims failed multiple sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest for receiving stolen property, driving a vehicle while impaired (BAC 0.063), and driving under suspension. He was taken to jail.
