PEMBERVILLE — The Eastwood boys soccer team lost 11-0 to undefeated Maumee on Wednesday as Blake Wagener added seven goals to his resume as one of the top all-time goal scorers in OHSAA history.

With Wednesday’s output, Wagener has produced 111 career goals, putting him seven shy of moving his name into the list of top 30 goal scorers in OHSAA history. A total of 32 players have scored at least 117 all-time.

Wagener scored his team’s first three goals, which gave him a hat trick less than midway through the first half. Jaxson Greenlese tacked on his team’s fourth goal, while Noah Preciado gave the Panthers a five-goal lead just over 30 minutes in.

“We didn’t quit,” Eastwood assistant coach Alie Kamara said. “At this stage, with our kids, we have a young group. All we can do is keep pushing them and make sure they keep going all 80 minutes. Just keep fighting.”

Wagener tallied his fourth goal with 8:41 left in the first as Maumee took a 6-0 lead into halftime.

The Panthers (10-0, 5-0 NBC) continued their offensive momentum in the second half, littering the goal area with 15 shots, including six on frame.

Wagener finished with three more goals in the second half, with 35:43, 25:12 and 24:01 remaining. Preciado tacked on two more goals in the 69th and 70th minutes.

Eastwood’s Brady Mohr delivered a strike on frame with 38:27 left in the game, but it was saved.

Jonas Bushman had a direct free kick sail just high with 26:30 remaining.

The shots from Mohr and Bushman were the lone two shot attempts for the Eagles (2-7-3, 1-2-1 NBC) in the second half.

Six different Panthers recorded assists, including a trio with two apiece.
