Bowling Green Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with Bowling Green State University, will present a compelling exploration of the early perspectives of national park landscapes.

Led by professors Andrew Hershberger and Kurt Panter from BGSU, this event will delve into the imagery captured by photographers in the 1860s and the geological insights of early scholars.

The focus will be on Grand Canyon National Park on Sept. 25, 2024 at 7 p.m. and Rocky Mountain National Park on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. Both programs will be hosted at the Rotary Nature Center at Wintergarden/St. Johns Nature Preserve.

Learn the legend of Holcomb Road

ROSSFORD — Rossford Public Library has invited Mike McMaster from the Wood County Historical Society to speak on “The Legend of Holcomb Road – and it’s Origin.”

Learn the history of this remote Wood County road and what has been luring thrill-seekers to this location for decades.

McMaster’s presentation will be Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.

37th annual Country Garden Club Trunk Show

PERRYSBURG — The Country Garden Club of Perrysburg’s 37th annual Trunk Show will be held Oct. 1 and 2 at the Carranor Hunt and Polo Club, 502 E. Second St.

Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

More than 20 vendors offering clothing, jewelry, purses, home goods, and food items will be at this year’s event.

Proceeds from the annual trunk show allow Country Garden Club to award community project grants to local nonprofits. The club will accept 2025 community project proposals at cgcperrysburg.com beginning this October.

“Since its inception, Country Garden Club has given more than $800,000 to the community primarily through our community project grants,” according to Colleen McGoldrick, CGC co-president.

Tickets for the Trunk Show are $10 each and can be purchased at the door. A buffet lunch will be available for purchase each day.

Tuesday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. has been dubbed a “Girls Night Out.” Ticket price for the evening is $7 each or two for $10. The evening will include shopping with six additional vendors, complimentary charcuterie, and music by Chloe and the Steel Strings.
