Bowling Green police were dispatched Saturday to the 1500 block of East Wooster Street in reference to a stolen E-scooter.

When officers arrived around 11:57 a.m, they spoke to an employee who stated that the missing E-scooter was a Go Trax G2 Plus, valued at $248.

The employee stated that the E-scooter was taken between 7:14 and 7:16 a.m., according to the report.

The employee stated that he did not have the E-scooter’s serial number.

When the employee posted on Facebook about the stolen E-scooter, someone responded that they may have seen it in the area of Troup Avenue and East Wooster Street. While officers were searching that area, dispatch advised them of a golf cart that was reported in the area of East Clough and Crim streets that had a scooter in the basket.

The driver of the golf cart was identified as Michael Pope, 46, who was listed as homeless. He told officers that he found the E-scooter in a dumpster, according to the report.

When officers reviewed video footage, they saw a male matching Pope’s description ride away with the E-scooter.

Pope was arrested for theft and was taken to jail.
