Northwood man pleas guilty to compelling a child to participate in a sexually oriented performance

A Northwood man must register as a sex offender after he pleaded guilty to pandering and endangering children.

Gregorio Tavarez, 23, appeared Monday in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Molly Mack.

He entered guilty pleas to three counts of endangering children, and one count each pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person and disseminating matter harmful to children.

He faces a minimum prison term of 26.5 years and a maximum of 30.5 years, Mack said.

On Aug. 12, 2023, he three times enticed, hired or compelled a child under the age of 18 to model or participate in a sexually oriented performance he knew was obscene.

On Aug. 9, 2023, he bought or procured obscene material that had a minor as one of its participants.

Aug. 12, 2023. he sold or furnished a juvenile, or a law enforcement officer posing as a juvenile, material that was obscene.

He must register as a Tier II sex offender, which will require him to register every 180 days for 25 years.

Sentencing was set for Nov. 4, at which time two counts of endangering children, two counts of pandering and one count of possessing criminal tools will be dismissed.
