JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bowling Green State University hockey alumnus Josh Nodler has been signed to a standard players contract with the Jacksonville Icemen of the ECHL (originally the East Coast Hockey League) for the 2024-25 season, the Iceman announced Thursday.

Nodler becomes the first former Falcon to sign with the franchise after spending his final season of eligibility with the Falcons.

In the 2023-24 season, his only season with the Falcons, after transferring in after three seasons with Michigan State and a season with the University of Massachusetts, he skated in 36 games. In his time at Bowling Green, he recorded 15 points (5g, 10a) and was tied for third on the team in point production.

Nodler played his junior season at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) adding five points in 27 games. From 2019-2022, the 5-10, 185-pound forward played three seasons at Michigan State University where he posted 34 points (13g, 21a) during his three seasons with the Spartans.

Throughout his five years in collegiate hockey, Nodler skated in 162 games.

The Oak Park, Michigan resident was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He now becomes the second Bowling Green hockey player to sign an ECHL contract this offseason. Senior forward Spencer Kersten signed with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL in March.

The Jacksonville Icemen are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and the AHL’s Rochester Americans.
