Ham radio enthusiasts gather for Field Day

Members of the Wood County Amateur Radio Club will be participating in the annual national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise June 22-23 on the grounds of the Wood County Museum 13660 County Home Road.

Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of Amateur Radio.

Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the U.S. and Canada. On the fourth weekend of June each year, thousands of radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.

The amateur radio frequencies are the last place in the usable radio spectrum where an individual can develop and experiment with wireless communications.

This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
