Bowling Green head football coach Scot Loeffler announced Wednesday the hiring of Rob Armand as cornerbacks coach.

Armand, who spent previously spent three seasons at Bowling Green (2019, 2020, 2021) on Loeffler’s staff returns to BGSU. Armand spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Vanderbilt in a defensive quality control role. He was hired in March to be the outside linebackers coach at Maine.

Armand replaces Beyah Rasool on staff who left in May for Florida where he is a defensive analyst working with cornerbacks.

“Robert was part of my first three staffs at Bowling Green and I am excited to welcome him back,” said Loeffler. “We should have a seamless transition with Robert coming in, knowing the system and majority of our staff.

“His last year with us he oversaw the safeties and aided our defensive in one of its best outputs in nearly a decade where we ranked No. 9 nationally in pass defense.”

Armand added, “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to come back to a place where I started my coaching career. Coach Loeffler has completely reshaped this program from when I started in 2019 and I’m excited I get to be a part of the continuing effort to push this program to the top of the MAC.”

Armand joined Loeffler’s staff in 2019 as a defense and special teams quality control assistant. In 2020 and 2021 Armand was a graduate assistant working with the defense, including in 2021 as the safeties coach.

While overseeing the safeties in 2021, Jordan Anderson earned third-team All-MAC honors and was one of three FBS players in the nation to record over three interceptions, two-plus fumble recoveries and five plus pass breakups.

After his time at BGSU Armand moved to Nashville to work with the Commodores. At Vanderbilt Armand worked with cornerbacks in 2022 and safeties in 2023.

In 2022 he was the assistant corners coach where he coached Jeremy Lucien, who is currently with the Baltimore Ravens. In 2023 Armand worked with safeties and coached Jaylen Mahoney who is now with the San Francisco 49ers.

Armand graduated from Stetson University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. A defensive back for the football team while at Stetson, Armand began his coaching career at his alma mater as a defensive quality control assistant from 2018-19.

The Miami, Fla., native was a two-time Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll selection for the Stetson Hatters. Armand earned a master’s in business administration from BGSU in 2021.
