Perrysburg gymnasts finish 9th at state

HILLIARD, Ohio — Perrysburg finished ninth out of 12 teams qualifying to the state gymnastics meet, which concluded Sunday at Hilliard Bradley High School.

The Yellow Jackets scored 136.2 points to finish behind state champion Brecksville-Broadview Heights (147.875), runner-up Rocky River Magnificat (147.825), and Olentangy Berlin (145.55), Berea-Midpark (145.225), Strongsville (143.5), Brunswick (142.15), Medina (140.575), and Olentangy (140.45).

Rouding out the standings and finishing behind Perrysburg were Centerville (134.225), Anthony Wayne (133.65), and Troy (129.8).

Ava Kincaid led Perrysburg with scores of 9.25 in the vault, 9.025 in the uneven parallel bars, 8.725 in the balance beam, and 8.95 in the floor exercise. She had an all-around of 34.425, good for 27th in the state.

Elyza Byrd had scores of 9.125 in the vault, 8.45 in the bars, and 8.225 on the floor. Janie Snyder had scores of 8.45 on the vault, 8.2 on the beam, and 8.775 on the floor.

Kylee Ruiz scored 8.075 on the vault, Sydney Wolfinger scored 8.075 on the bars, Camryh Butler scored 7.795 on the bars, Abbi Lee scored 8.175 on the beam and 8.35 on the floor, and Kenna Hire scored 8.1 on the beam.

As a team, Perrysburg finished sixth on the vault, ninth on the bars, 10th on the beam, and 11th on the floor.

Top individual champions were Tessa Brousek (Parma Padua Fransiscan) in the all-around with a 38.45 score, Brousek in the bars with a 9.575, Hannah Salgado (Aurora) with a 9.725 in the beam, Tayten Swain (Olentangy Berlin) with a 9.55 on the floor, and Emma Nolan (North Olmsted) with a 9.875 on the vault
