Local artists invited to compete to give Perrysburg mural a make-over

PERRYSBURG — It’s been a hot minute since the historic district mural in Perrysburg was installed, and it’s time for a make-over.

Visit Perrysburg and building owner Ray Corrigan created a call for artists to submit their original ideas in the hopes of earning the $500 stipend as well as bragging rights on the Perrysburg historic district mural to be installed in the Spring of 2024.

The Perrysburg historic district mural is a 10 feet by 10 feet billboard affixed to the Corrigan building (currently home to Vivian Kate Clothier) and overlooks Hood Park on the northwest side of Front Street at Louisiana Avenue. Neighbor to the famous Commodore Perry statue, the mural “will be a destination for visitors to engage in our community’s history and a showpiece to our city as well as the gateway to our historic district”, said Executive Director Christine Best. “The theme of this mural is ‘where history lives and adventures await,’ and we’re incredibly excited to see what our local artists create to embrace that theme.”

Submissions can come from a single artist or a collaboration, as long as the art is original and can be replicated on a large scale.

Local artists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to submit an application and high resolution vector of their mural artwork now through Nov. 30 through the visitperrysburg.com website Event page. An artist stipend of $500 will be awarded to the winning artist (or artists) on Dec. 15.
