Bittersweet Farms, Target offer sensory friendly holiday shopping

For the seventh year in a row, Bittersweet Farms and two local Target stores are collaborating to offer a sensory friendly holiday shopping experience for the local autism community.

On Wednesday, the Target store in Rossford and the Target store in Holland will open one hour early to provide a sensory friendly shopping experience for the local autism community and others with sensory processing challenges. From 7-8 a.m., the lights will be dimmed, the music turned off, and foot traffic limited.

Local individuals with autism and their families are invited to attend this event.

Enjoy Pizza and Pages with middle school book club

Middle School students are invited to join Pizza and Pages with the Wood County District Public Library. Pizza and Pages is a book group for all area 6th-8th grade students.

Pizza and Pages meets in the Bowling Green Media Center the second Tuesday of every month, immediately after classes release at 2:30 p.m. Books for each month are available to checkout at WCDPL behind the Children’s Place Desk. Students only need to read one of the available titles, and are welcome to attend even if they have not finished a book. Students will also enjoy snacks, games, discussion, and giveaways.

Johnsons Island Civil War Roundtable meets

Michael Gilbert of Toledo will present the subject Tecumseh, great American Indian leader to Johnsons Island CWRT on Nov. 19 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 131 E. Perry St., Tiffin.

Born in Ohio near present-day Chillicothe, Tecumseh became a Shawnee chief and warrior who promoted resistance to the expansion of the US. A fine orator, he eventually formed an Indian Alliance which was very strong. This failed, but he became an iconic folk hero in American, Indigenous, and Canadian popular history.

Area singers invited to join the Carey Ecumenical Choir

For the first time since 2019, the Carey Ecumenical Choir will present a concert of sacred Advent and Christmas music at the Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. The concert is on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m.. All area singers from all faiths are invited to join the choir. Singers are asked to attend a majority of rehearsals which alternate between Tuesdays and Thursdays leading up to the concert.
