David W. Kieffer

David W. Kieffer, 70 of Fostoria, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at The James Cancer Center Hospital at the Ohio State University. He was born August 4, 1953 in Findlay, Ohio to Alva and Iva P. (Kreais) Kieffer.

David, or “Dave” graduated from Elmwood High School in 1972 and went on to serve the Fostoria Kroger as a loyal employee and head of the frozen food department for 46 years.

He grew up as a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, and was a kind, caring friend to so many. Dave found his true happiness in his outdoor adventures, and would talk about hunting and fishing with anyone that would engage in conversation. From Sugar Island, Canada and Florida for fishing, to Utah for elk hunting to Arkansas for duck hunting to Pennsylvania and Ohio’s timbered woodland for whitetail and squirrels, Dave loved the outdoors. He was proud to carry on the tradition of hunting and fishing and enjoyed being a member of several different non-profit organizations: Lions Club of Risingsun, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Carey Conservation & Sportsman Association, and Fostoria United Sportsmen. He also enjoyed shooting pool leagues locally, and fishing on Lake Erie, with his best friend, Gary, anytime there was good weather.

Surviving are his brother, William “Bill” Kieffer, of Fostoria; and a niece, Tonya (Jacob) Selby, of Vernal, Utah, and many of his lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
