Bowling Green Community Bands to open Season 15

The Bowling Green Area Community Bands open its 15th season Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Bowling Green High School Performing Arts Center.

Doors open at 3:30 p.m. There is no admission charge.

The year long celebration begins with many ‘Thankful Moments.” Concert highlights include autumnal favorites presented by BiG Band BG. “Autumn Leaves” and “Early Autumn” will surely create a fall mood. The jazz group will close with the ever popular “Birdland.”

The concert band will have composer Lisa Galvin conduct one of her new works. In a program ranging from reflective to joyous to rollicking, the band will conclude with the inspirational “Raise Your Joys” and “Triumphs High,” complete with antiphonal brass.

Children are invited to wear a family-friendly Halloween costume and join the bands on stage for a special costume parade during the performance. Prizes will be given to all parade participants.
