WESTON — Gladys Mae Bollenbacher, 92, of Weston, Ohio passed away September 2, 2023 with her daughter Karlyn at her side. Gladys was born on August 20, 1931 to the late Fred and Marie (Duesler) Hollopeter in Cygnet, Ohio. She married Richard “Dick” Bollenbacher on March 18, 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 28, 1985.
Gladys is survived by her daughter: Karlyn (Steve) Thompson, son Royce (Mary Ellen) Bollenbacher; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister: Charlotte Atkins, and sister-in-law Jo Ann Herringhaw.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark Bollenbacher, brother Bruce Lovell, and special friend Paul McKenzie.
Gladys enjoyed crocheting Afghans, painting sweatshirts, playing Bingo, listening to music and working in her yard. She and her husband loved fishing at the French River in Canada each August. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughter Elizabeth, participate in cross country, track, 4-H and Girl Scout activities. Gladys loved the special visits from Elizabeth when she came home to visit from Colorado. Gladys had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor.
Visitation for Gladys will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10 a.m. until her funeral service at 12 p.m. in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second Street, Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522. Interment will immediately follow in Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions in Gladys’ memory made be gifted to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the resident activity fund at Bowling Green Manor Nursing Home.
