Pedestrian dies after Friday crash

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian.

At 8:20 a.m. Friday, deputies were called to the intersection of Ohio 582 and Bradner Road in Troy Township.

A 2007 Chrysler minivan operated by Sarah Ayers, 21, was westbound on Route 592 when it went off the right side of the road. Ayers over-corrected and then lost control of the vehicle.

As it went back onto the road, the minivan struck a pedestrian, identified as Raymond Froelich, 78, Luckey.

Life-saving measures were attempted by Troy Township EMS and deputies, but Froelich was pronounced dead shortly after.
