BGPD responds to fireworks complaints

The Bowling Green Police Division responded to several fireworks complaints on Monday and Tuesday.

There is a city ordinance prohibiting fireworks in the city.

Police on Tuesday responded to North Enterprise and Ridge streets and two men and one woman, all aged 22, were given criminal warnings.

On Monday, a 43-year-old man was warned for igniting fireworks in the 1400 block of Margaretha Lane.

Also on Monday, police responded to two separate fireworks complaints in the 1100 block of Sandpiper Lane. An 18-year-old man and a 38-year-old man were given warnings.

All reports came in around 10 p.m.

Police also had two additional calls where the area was checked but officers could not locate any suspects.

Bowling Green has had a longstanding ordinance banning the sale of and discharge of fireworks. Despite the state law, passed in 2022, it is still illegal to discharge or shoot off consumer-grade fireworks in the city.
