Royals mercy Bulldogs, 14-4

ROSSFORD — Rossford softball scored four runs in the bottom of the third to close to within a run, 5-4, but Elmwood tacked on three in the third, six in the fourth, and three in the fifth to defeat the Bulldogs, 14-4, in Northern Buckeye Conference softball Wednesday.

Elmwood improves to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the league. The Royals outhit the Bulldogs 14-3 and took advantage of three Rossford errors, three walks and had six stolen bases.

Elmwood senior pitcher Madison Milligan struck out five, walked one, allowed three hits and four runs, but none were earned, over five innings to get the complete game victory. Milligan threw 69 pitches, including 51 strikes, while facing 21 batters.

Elmwood senior Abigail Allison was 2-for-3 with a home run, sacrifice fly, and three RBIs and junior Mariela Garcia was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.

Kate Keiffer and Milligan were both 2-for-3, and Kennadie Plouck was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kynzie Science, Dakota Rader-King, Leah Allison, and Trinity Sander had base hits for the Royals.

Keiffer had three stolen bases, Garcia had two steals and Milligan had one for Elmwood.
