ADRIAN, Mich. — Playing its four NAIA top-seven opponent in the last seven games, Lourdes dropped an 11-8 decision to seventh-ranked Siena Heights on Wednesday evening at O’Laughlin Stadium.

The Gray Wolves hung close to the Saints early. Three goals in a five-minute span by Nick Johnson (Perrysburg), Ben Reidy (Saskatoon, Sask./Bishop James Mahoney), and Brock Meomartino (Cumberland, R.I.) put Lourdes in front 3-1 midway through the opening quarter.

Caden Louthan (Dripping Springs, Texas) and Meomartino added a pair of goals in the final 1:18 of the first period to give the Gray Wolves a 5-2 lead after 15 minutes.

Siena Heights (7-4, 5-2 WHAC) scored the only two goals of the second quarter as the Gray Wolves maintained a one-goal edge at intermission.

Xavier Dockery (Westerville North) tallied his second goal of the season early in the third quarter as Lourdes rebuilt a two-goal lead only to see the Saints score seven consecutive tallies to pull in front for good. Meomartino and Louthan each added goals in the final 6:06 for the Gray Wolves for the final margin.

Siena Heights outshot Lourdes 44-23 for the night with Jack Bichsel (Westerville North) making 10 saves for the Gray Wolves in the cage. Hayden Barber (Bedford, Mich.) picked up five of the team’s 18 ground balls.

Lourdes (6-6, 1-5) will close on the 2023 season on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves host Lawrence Tech. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium with Senior Day activities taking place prior to the game.
