Falcons complete We Fly Challenge with day fullvof PRs

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University Falcons carried their momentum from a strong first day into an equally impressive second day at the We Fly Challenge.

BGSU had someone attain a season-best or personal record in every event, including the 200, won by Jemeila Hunter, and triple jump, won by Brianna Richard.

The triple jump also featured second and third-place finishes from Bianca Staples and Sabrina Imes, with the latter joining her teammates in the program record book. Raegan Burkey (800) and Zaresha Neal (shot put) tallied runner-up finishes, as did the 4×100 relay team of Alexis Parchman, Jemeila Hunter, Brianna Richard and Darian Braddix. The quartet finished in 45.78, ranking them third in program history. The 4×400 relay team of DaMya Barker, Darian Braddix, Jemeila Hunter, and Bianca Staples placed first, capping another successful weekend for the Falcons.

– The 4×100 relay team of Alexis Parchman, Jemeila Hunter, Brianna Richard, Darian Braddix placed second with a time of 45.78, making them the third-fastest quartet in program history. Their time is just 0.08 shy of the school record, held by Ayanna Tommy, Hunter, Ryen Draper, and Savannah Nevels.

– Brianna Richard (40-5.50, 12.33m) and Sabrina Imes (38-8.50, 11.80m) recorded their best triple jump marks of the outdoor season, placing first and third. Bianca Staples finished second with a mark of 39-0.00 (11.89m).

– Richard’s mark is the eighth-best in school history, giving her three of the top 10 marks. Staples, who ranks sixth in program history, registered the 20th-best mark in BGSU history. Imes entered the record book as well, ranking eighth in school history.

– The 4×400 relay team of DaMya Barker, Darian Braddix, Jemeila Hunter, and Bianca Staples earned a first-place finish in 3:47.90, BGSU’s fastest time of the season.

– Raegan Burkey was the runner-up in the 800 with a PR of 2:16.03.

– Kristin Groppe recorded a 3K steeplechase PR of 11:34.98, finishing fourth.

– Emma Hellwege made her collegiate track debut and placed fourth in the 1500 at 4:44.86. This is BGSU’s fastest time of the season by over 12 seconds.

– Destiny Fernandes (17-9.50, 5.42m) and Jenna Lucas (17-6.75, 5.35m) each had a PR in the long jump, placing second and fourth.

– DaMya Barker placed 10th in the 400 with a PR of 58.58, the Falcons’ fastest of the season.

– Brianna Richard (11.98), Alexis Parchman (12.20), Bianca Staples (12.42), Alexsia Davis (12.78), and Sabrina Imes (12.82) all ran career-bests in the 100, with Richard and Parchman running with a +3.6 wind.

– Jemeila Hunter (23.99) and Darian Braddix (24.63) ran wind-aided career-bests in the 200, with Hunter’s time ranking her fourth in program history in wind-aided races.

– Tianna Mulligan raced a season-best 24.75 in the 200, just 0.01 shy of her PR.

– Alexis Parchman (25.03) and Alexsia Davis (25.73) also had wind-aided PRs in the 200, while Jenna Lucas ran her best time of the outdoor season at 26.46.

– Lucas (12.90, +2.1 wind) and Ashley Kisor (12.97) ran the 100 for the first time in their collegiate careers. Kisor also raced the 200 for the first time this outdoor season, finishing in 26.21 seconds.

– Lucas recorded an outdoor-best mark of 41-4.00 (12.60m) in the shot put.

– Zaresha Neal’s shot put mark of 52-2.00 (15.90m) ranks 22nd in school history, giving her 12 of the top 25 marks in BGSU history.

– Kennedi Bailey made her outdoor debut, finishing fifth in the shot put with a mark of 45-4.50 (13.83m).
