No serious injuries were reported after a driver of a semi crossed the median on Interstate 75 early Friday morning near Bowling Green and caused a three-vehicle crash that shut down the highway for hours.

The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that occurred in the southbound lanes at approximately 2:49 a.m.

Lt. Jordan Schwochow said that it appeared the driver of the semi had a medical issue while northbound on I-75. He crossed the median into the southbound lane near Wooster Street and struck a Ram 1500 and another semi that were traveling southbound. One of the semis overturned into the median. Diesel was released onto the roadway along with debris, causing a road closure.

The drivers of both semis were transported by ground ambulance to Wood County Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The three occupants of the Ram pickup truck were treated at the scene.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which closed the road for hours.

The patrol was assisted on scene by the Bowling Green Police Division, Bowling Green Fire Division and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
