The Wood County Health Department received four applications for a full-time dentist and will interview
all of them.
At Thursday’s board of health meeting, Diane Krill, who is chief executive officer at the Community
Health Center, reported interviews will take place Aug.15 – two in person and two by telephone.
One of the candidates lives in New Mexico, the other three are local.
All four have a license to practice dentistry in Ohio, and all have practiced in Northwest Ohio in the
past, Krill said.
She said the increase in the posted salary made a difference.
The pay range for the full-time dentist went from $69.55 per hour to $104.32 per hour.
The start date of the new hire is flexible, depending on their circumstances, Krill said.
Chief Dental Officer Dr. Vipul Singhal announced in July his plan to leave after being given full-time
status in June. He is being paid $102.56 per hour, but his plan to relocate to Wood County changed when
his wife took a job in Chicago. He has agreed to stay on part time until a replacement is found.
The health department’s new dental center, which was funded through an an $824,997 U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services grant, was completed late last year. It is adjacent to the health department
on East Gypsy Lane Road.
