Neil Ritz Flick

Neil Ritz Flick, 85, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Wednesday evening, October 2, 2019 at Oak Grove
Healthcare Center, Deshler.
He was born on May 18, 1934 in Holgate, Ohio to the late Donald and Helen (Ritz) Flick. On July 9, 1955
he married Verlinda Yungmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler and they have shared over 64 years
together.
Neil was a Deshler High School graduate and worked briefly for the railroad before he enlisted in the
U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War and was proud to be a part of the Bugle Corps. Upon returning
home, with the help of the GI Bill, he attended Bluffton College. He was a school teacher, having taught
in Hoytville, Westhope, Hamler and Deshler. He furthered his education at Defiance College and BGSU,
earning his specialist degree. He became the Elementary School Principal for Westhope, Hamler, Deshler
Patrick Henry Schools. After a fulfilling career in education and mostly in his home community, he
retired in 1992. Outside of working in a school, he maintained a license as a barber and worked at the
former Ad Baughman Barbershop on Main Street in Deshler.
He was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church; Deshler American Legion Post #316 and a former
volunteer fireman for Deshler Fire Department.
He is survived by his faithful, loving and dedicated wife, Verlinda “Linda” Flick; sons, Keith (Michele)
Flick; Rick (Pam) Flick; Craig (Jody) Flick; 7 grandchildren, Brandon Flick; Amanda (Corey) Modrowski;
Nyssa (Robert) Clark; Lacey (Shawn) Punches; Robert (Rachel) Flick; Joshua Flick; Melody Flick; 6 great
grandchildren; Samuel Flick; Kaylee Modrowski; Henry Clark; Jaden Punches; Brooks Punches; Logan
Modrowski and sister-in-law, Marilyn Flick.
He was preceded in death by brother, Donald Flick.
Services are 11:00 a.m., Monday at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Deshler. A luncheon will
immediately follow and graveside military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at McComb Union Cemetery, McComb,
Ohio.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m., Sunday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and 10-11 a.m., Monday at
church.
