Nancy Jane Scott

Nancy Jane Scott, 68, of North Ridgeville, OH, passed away on September 7, 2019 from complications of
lifelong hypertension and Vascular Cognitive Impairment.
She was the eldest daughter of George Milo Scott and Donna Jean (Errett) Scott, born on August 8, 1951.
She was preceded in death by both parents and is survived by her sister, Susan Marie Scott, North
Ridgeville, OH.
Nancy devoted her life to teaching first and third grade at Liberty Elementary School in North
Ridgeville, OH. She was a graduate of Otsego High School in 1969 and Bowling Green State University in
1972, with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in music. She earned her master’s
degree from BGSU in 1974.
She retired from teaching in 2009. Many of her former students said that she was a tough teacher, but
they appreciated how she made learning fun and how she thought of them all as her own children. Her
students knew they would get unconditional love and caring from her.
Growing up Nancy loved being in the Otsego High school bands, playing piano and organ for churches and
weddings and she was involved in the North Ridgeville Community Theatre. During farming season, she also
drove tractor and worked in the fields on the family farm. She was recognized several times in Who’s Who
of American Teachers, a publication where students and parents can honor an outstanding teacher.
Nancy adopted kids every year for Christmas through North Ridgeville Community Care, hoping to bring some
happiness to kids that didn’t have much.
She was a former member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Tontogany, and Fields United Methodist
Church, North Ridgeville. Nancy played organ and piano for both churches, sang in the church choir and
directed the children’s choir. She was a member of Oriana Rebeckah Lodge for several years and the
Togany Teens and Petites 4-H Club, earning top honors for her projects. She loved traveling, kitties,
and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians. Nancy and her sister visited many of the MLB ballparks
following her beloved Cleveland Indians.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home,
