Vernon E. Hiser

Vernon E. Hiser, age 91 of Wayne, Ohio passed away on Thursday (February 20, 2020) at the Bridge Hospice
Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was born on January 6, 1929 in Bradner, Ohio to the late Ralph
Allen & Loleta Bell (Shreffler) Hiser. He married Maryann Hoiles on March 29, 1952 in Monroe,
Michigan and she passed away on July 15, 2011.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda (Gordon) Wilson of Sylvania, Ohio, Kathy (Danny) Hatas of Wayne, Ohio;
sons, Larry Hiser of Binghamton, New York, Kenneth (Janet) Hiser of Wayne, Ohio; sister, Joan (James)
Lewis of Fostoria, Ohio; brother, Glenn (Marilyn) Hiser of Binghampton, New York; sister-in-law,
Patricia Hoiles of Wayne, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his loving wife, Maryann; brother, Elwin Hiser.
After high school Vernon served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He then went to work for
the carpenters union where he retired and became a self employed carpenter working with Frank Tyson. He
was a member of the Wayne Church of Christ, member of the former Knights of Pythian, former member of
the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Cleveland Indians,
Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Family & friends will be received from 1-4 PM (February 26, 2020) at Vernon’s home, 125 West
Bryant Street, Wayne, Ohio 43466 for a time of food and fellowship. Vernon’s children would like to give
a heartfelt thank you to Nurse Sandie in the Wood County Hospital ER and to the ladies at the Bridge
Hospice Care Center for the great care given to their father. Memorial donations may be given to the
Bridge Home Health & Hospice of Bowling Green, Ohio. Barndt Funeral Home is assisting the family
