James Wright

James Wright was born June 4, 1935 and raised in Toledo, OH where he worked 23 years for Standard Oil of
Ohio successfully building up a business for service stations.
At the age of 22 he entered the Ohio Army National Guard and served honorably from 1958 to 1964.
He died April 28, 2019.
With the courage to go into business on his own, he moved to Bowling Green, OH and for 20 years ran as
many as six service stations with auto repair, towing and convenience stores. He had as many as 40
employees and hired college students who have remained friends throughout his lifetime and considered
him a mentor for their successes.
In 1996 he moved permanently to Sugarloaf Key, FL and purchased properties that he managed for 20 years.
He enjoyed the Keys life boating, fishing and entertaining friends. He had a love for animals and
volunteered at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT. His dog Willie, a Papillon, was his faithful
work companion and went everywhere with him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ward W. Wright and his mother Virginia Wright.
He had a witty sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his wife, Shirley Mensch; sister, Susan
Schoen (Jimmy); half brother, David Wright; son, Michael Mensch (Micki); daughter, Leslie Disch; 6
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four beloved nieces, Brittany, Courtney, Tiffany, April; one
great niece; five great-nephews and many cousins.
