Lela Mae (Weaver) Fox

Lela Mae (Weaver) Fox, age 83, of Tontogany, died August 14, 2019 and went to the loving arms of Jesus.

She was born on October 14, 1935 to Edson and Helen (Beam) Weaver in Grand Rapids, Ohio. She attended
school in both Tontogany and Bowling Green where she was active in the band. She graduated from Bowling
Green High School in 1953.
Lela married Dale Fox on Nov 2, 1958 at Calvary EUB Church in Tontogany, Ohio.
They raised their family and watched their grandchildren grow together for 44 years. They were known for
their hospitality, and the Fox home was open to all and many remember the “Mulligan Stews.” Community
involvement was important to Lela throughout her life.
She participated in many things like being a Girl Scout leader, a 4-H adviser for Togany Teens &
Petites, Lotus Chapter 477 of the Eastern Stars, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Middleton Twp. Homemakers,
Otsego Music Boosters, Otsego Community Band, Yuletide Choir, babysitting and she was known for her
sewing. Lela had a true heart for serving Christ in every church she attended. Her roots were in three
churches, Calvary UMC in Tontogany, Trinity UMC in Bowling Green, and Turning Point UMC. She served as a
Sunday School teacher, nursery worker, VBS teacher, trustee, choir member, fair gate attendant, church
dinner volunteer, and was a new church plant team member. When she could no longer attend, she became a
fierce prayer warrior!
She is survived by daughters: Elaine (Chuck) Dunn, Mary Lou (Jerry) Wiles, Jessica (Brad) McDevitt;
grandchildren: Elizabeth (Donovan) Hill, Katie (Richard) Walinski, Alex (Jess) Wiles, Amy Wiles;
great-grandchildren: Chloe, Liam, Lilly, and Ceara Hill; sister: Ruth (John) Eschedor; sister-in-law:
Jackie (Howard) Shank.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Walter Lowe, Dale, son Richard, sisters Edna Lashaway,
Marvel Smestad, Marlene Weaver and brother Donald Weaver.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 3-7 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 18620
Washington St., Tontogany, Ohio.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials can be given in her memory to Grace Hospice, the Kidney Foundation, or the David Jeremiah
Turning Point Ministries.
