Two BGSU soccer players go pro

A pair of former Bowling Green State University soccer players entered the professional ranks on
Thursday.
Chelsee Washington, a standout on the Falcons’ women’s soccer team, became the first player in program
history to be drafted on Thursday.
Washington was selected in the fourth round (30th overall) by the Orlando Pride in the National Women’s
Soccer League college draft.
Washington, who helped BG to 49 wins during her four years, was the only Mid-American Conference player
selected in the draft on Thursday.
Anthony Mwembia, the Falcons’ goalkeeper on the men’s soccer team, signed a professional contract with
the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Thursday.
Mwembia’s contract is for one year with a club option for the 2021 season, pending the USSF and USL
Championship approval, per a release from from the BGSU Athletic Department.
As a senior, Mwembia made 63 saves and finished one shy of the school-record with 11 shutouts in 21
games. His 30 career shutouts are the second most in BG history.
