Noted Korean percussionist to visit Bowling Green
Noted Korean percussionist Dong-Won Kim, a member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad Ensemble Project, will visit
Bowling Green Sunday and Monday to perform and teach.
On Sunday at 7 p.m. the 2009 film "Intangible Asset No. 82" about Kim’s work will be shown at
Grounds For Thought, 174 S. Main St.  as the opening event in the Other Musics Film Series. Kim, a
percussionist, teacher, vocalist, composer and improviser, will answer questions after the film.
On Monday at 3 p.m., he will give a lecture demonstration at the BGSU Arts Village.
] Since 1984, he has studied various forms of traditional music, ranging from farmers’ drumming and
dance, shaman music, and Pansori accompaniment, as well as music theory from the great Korean music
masters. He is currently the Improviser-in-Residence for the International Institute for Critical
Improvisation Studies at the University of Guelph.
Contemporary silent films with electronic soundtracks
TOLEDO – New silent films of ACVilla  scored and performed live by Thollem Electric will be screened at
Robinwood Concert House, 2564 Robinwood Ave., Saturday at 9 p.m.
Silver Ochre is a 47-minute series of short films ranging from 30 seconds to 4 minutes in length
capturing  moments in time, each with their own story, and in stark contrast one from the other. The
nomadic videos of ACVilla take us through doorways in the Rustbelt, into a spider’s life at a rest stop,
to ice shadows in New Mexico, among other visions she’s found, waited for and/or created along her
peripatetic life.
Thollem McDonas has scored these films and accompanies them live with a vintage electric piano and analog
effects.

A.A. play at Valentine
TOLEDO – "Pass It On – An Evening with Bill W. & Dr. Bob," a two-person stage
production about the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous, will be presented Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Valentine Theatre.
Presented by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. the show features Broadway
actors Gary Kimble and Will Stutts.
A Pre-show Social will be held from 6 to 7:15 p.m., and will feature grazing with catering by Georgio’s
Café International, socializing, testimonials from residents of the Open Door and meeting Gary Kimble.

Tickets are $20 to $40 and tickets for the social are $25. for both events are available through the

Glass workshops offered
HOLLAND – Firenation Glass Studio and Gallery, 7166 Front St., has three glass workshops planned for the
rest of October.
Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, the workshop will focus on making a glass ghost. Cost $50.
On Oct. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. the workshop will cover glass bowls. Cost $75.
On Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon, the gallery will offer The Original Glass Experience in which
participants will make three items. Cost $75.
