with the New Art and Sound exhibition. The exhibition includes the multimedia works of Terry Adkins, George
Lewis and Pamela Z in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery of the Fine Arts Center. Pamela Z, a composer,
performer and artist, performs at 7 p.m. The exhibit continues through Nov. 17.THURSDAYThe New Music
Festival continues with a Composer Talk by featured composer George Lewis at 1 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of
the Moore Musical Arts Center.The New Music Festival continues with concerts at 3 p.m. in Bryan Recital
Hall, 7:30 p.m. in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center and a performance by Ensemble Dal Niente
and Friends at 9:30 p.m. in the Cla-Zel Theatre, 127 N. Main St.Wendell Mayo, Creative Writing Program
faculty member, reads from "The Cucumber King of Kedainiai," winner of the Subito Press Award for
Innovative Fiction, at 7:30 p.m. in Prout Chapel.The International Film Series begins with "Kung Fu
Hustle" at 7:30 p.m. in the Gish Film Theater of Hanna Hall. Set in pre-revolutionary China, the story
follows small-time thief Sing, who wants to become a higher profile villain.FRIDAYThe New Music Festival
continues with a chamber music concert at 10:30 a.m. in Bryan Recital Hall and ensemble concert at 2:30 p.m.
in Kobacker Hall.Ensemble Dal Niente will perform at 8 p.m. in Kobacker Hall. The program include world
premieres of works by George Lewis and Mikel Kuehn, of the BGSU music faculty. New Music Festival
eventSATURDAYA Young Composers’ Concert featuring work by students from the Toledo School for the Arts and
winners of the 2013 BGSU Young Composers Competition will be presented at 10:30 a.m. in Bryan Recital Hall.
New Music Festival eventGeorge Lewis and percussionist and author Rob Wallace will discuss improvisation,
followed by a demonstration by students and faculty, at noon in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery Lobby of the
Fine Arts Center. New Music Festival eventA recital will present the world premiere of Marcos Balter’s
electroacoustic work and other pieces at 2:30 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall.The New Music Festival concludes
with a concert by the Bowling Green Philharmonia and the BGSU Wind Symphony, featuring clarinetist Kevin
Schempf and flutist Conor Nelson at 8 p.m. in Kobacker Hall. The program presents the world premiere of a

21The annual Music Discovery Day at BGSU, when more than 300 students visit the College of Musical Arts, has
been expanded to become Arts Discovery Day with the inclusion of the School of Art, the Department of
Theatre and Film, and the dance and creative writing programs. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in

Isherwood will give an ARTalk on "Liquid Solids: Sensations of Form and Surface" at 5 p.m. in 204
Fine Arts Center. Isherwood combines ancient and modern techniques and materials in his sculptures, using
marble, the oldest sculptural material, but carving it with high-tech methods.OCT. 22Tuesdays at the Gish
screens the 1945 film "Detour" at 7:30 p.m. in the Gish Film Theater. In this cult classic film
noir by director Edgar Ulmer, a nightclub pianist hitchhikes to Hollywood when his travelling companion
