Love of Art marks anniversary

PEMBERVILLE – The For the Love of Art art exhibit and art walk marks its 10th anniversary
Saturday and Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. in the village’s historic opera
house and throughout downtown.The art show features more than 200 works of art by area high schools
students, and graduates from the past three years.Winners selected by local artist Emmanuel Enriquez will
receive rosettes and cash prizes from the Pemberville Historical Society.Local businesses will be hosting
artists and offering their windows and store fronts for artistic displays as well. Participating artists
include: Wilma Ablett, mixed media; Eric Ward, Debbie Walters and Chuck and Sue Frizzell, photography; James
Barnes, Steam Punk art and carved wizard wands and jewelry trees; Pat Rollins, glass; Mike Sayen, pen art;
and Rita McDougle, fiber art.Pemberville Public Library will show the creations of area preschoolers.The
Library will also be the setting for the Quilts of Valor quilt tops by the Quilting Eagles. Quilts of Valor
is a National program for quilters, making patriotic quilts that are sent to war zones to cover wounded
soldiers as they are transported for medical assistance.Funky art poles located curbside will point the way
to the various locations showcasing the artwork.Musicians will perform in the Opera House Gallery and at the
Pemberville Public Library throughout the show.Other activities include:• Preschool Art Day, Saturday, from
10:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.• Book signing for "Between Heaven & Healing" by Melanie Boulis at
the Library beginning at 1 p.m.• Chocolate tasting at Beeker’s General Store. Cost $2.Higher Ground Coffee
Shop will also offer a Mardi Gras Dinner on Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Cost $10.The Pemberville Fair Board
will sponsor a pancake breakfast on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pemberville Fire Hall. Adults $6,
children to $4, and free age 4 and under.
