Hollywood portraits complement Manet

TOLEDO – As part of the Toledo Museum of Art’s focus on faces this season, the photo
show "Made in Hollywood" opens this weekend at the museum’ galleries
4, 5 and 9.
The photos are from the John Kobal Foundation. Kobal started out as a star struck
fan, said Tom Loeffler, who is curating the show in Toledo. He started
collecting promotional photos of the stars, and that led him to a greater
appreciation of the work of the photographers who captured those images.
Kobal went on to acquire photos as well as negatives from studios, magazines and the
photographers themselves.
The more than 90 images included some that were printed from negatives specifically
for the show, Loeffler said.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and free for TMA members.
The combination ticket for admission to both Made in Hollywood and Manet: Portraying
Life is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and free for TMA members.

The exhibit originated at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in 2008. Toledo is the
exhibit’s last stop.
