Perrysburg Symphony features concerto winners
PERRYSBURG – The Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra will present "A Little Night
Music from Beethoven and Mozart" Saturday at 7p.m. in the Owens Community
College Mainstage Theatre in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, 30335
Oregon Road, Perrysburg Township.
The concert, directed by guest conductor Robert Mirkian, will feature the winners of
the Young People’s Competition.
High school division winner, Natalie Smith, a sophomore from the Toledo Christian
School, will perform the Hummel Trumpet Concerto.
College division winner, Manling Wang, a junior at Bowling Green State University,
will perform Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D.
Tickets are $10 and $5 for students. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets
are available at Ken’s Flowers in Perrysburg or at the door.
Owens Concert Band plays patriotic and show tunes
The Owens Community College Concert Band will perform its free Spring Pops Concert
Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in the Center for the Fine and
Performing Arts, 30335 Oregon Road, Perrysburg Township.
The band includes Owens students and employees as well as community members.
The program will include songs from the musicals "Jesus Christ Superstar"
and "ABBA on Broadway", as well as "Semper Fidelis",
"All Glory Told" and "El Choclo".
Guest singer Eddie Boggs will also perform "Our American Soldiers,"
"You Raise Me Up" and other songs with the band.
Additionally, World War II veteran and Silver Star Medal recipient Earl Geoffrion,
94, of Oregon will be honored for his bravery and service to his country as part
of the performance.
Angelwood Gallery opens garden-themed spring show
GRAND RAPIDS – "Printemps 2012" will open at Angelwood Gallery, 24195 Front
St., with a reception Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The show showcases the work of local artists working in all media with a special
focus on a garden theme to celebrate this spring season.
The gallery’s hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4

Lenahan performs piano recital
Pianist Michael Lenahan, of Rossford, will present a piano recital Saturday at 7 p.m.
at the Toledo Club, 235 14th Street, Toledo.
Lenahan will perform his college audition repertoire including pieces by Ludwig von
Beethoven, J.S. Bach, Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Robert Schumann and
Alban Berg.
The son of Cindy and Tim Lenahan, the pianist plans to study piano performance, but
has not decided what school he will attend. He has been accepted to The
Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, te University of Michigan and several
other schools.
Lenahan studies with Dr. Robert Satterlee at Bowling Green state University. He began
his studies with Anita Wilkin of Perrysburg.
Professionals will help cast von Trapp children
PERRYSBURG – Perrysburg Musical Theatre will have two professional casting directors
making the decision on all children’s roles for "The Sound of Music"
at auditions on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
Jeff Duke and Michael Querio will be flying in to judge and cast the von Trapp
children as well as the children’s chorus for the musical. Duke and Querio run
the award-winning Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre in Denver.
Auditions will be held at Next Stage Studios, 25581 Fort Meigs Road, Suite G.

June 22, 23 and 24.
Flying Joe hosts acts
PERRYSBURG – The Flying Joe, 130 Preston Parkway, will feature shows by Ben Statlets
Friday and BGSU MuTS Saturday.
Both performances are from 8 to 10 p.m.

Barbershoppers mark milestone
FOSTORIA – The Fostoria Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus and chapter quartets will their
50th Annual Show Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Fostoria High School Performing
Arts Center.
Guest quartets will be Happiness Emporium and 2007 International Champion Max Q.
