Scholls to vocalize at Brown Bag Concert
Singers Chris and Ellen Scholl will perform a Brown Bag Music Series concert Friday
from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Simpson Building, 1291 Conneaut Ave., Bowling
Green.
The series is a collaboration between the City of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation
Department and College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University.
Listeners are invited to bring their lunch. Drinks and dessert are available for
purchase.
Owens concert band presenting pops concert
The Owens Community College Concert Band will present its Winter Pops Concert Sunday
at 2:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre in Owens Community College’s Center for
the Fine and Performing Arts, off Oregon Road, Perrysburg Township.
The concert band, directed by William F. Dais, will present a variety of music.
including Broadway show tunes, a patriotic medley ad music from Disney films.

Flutist Marene Fondessy will be the featured soloist on Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s
"The Flight of the Bumble Bee."
Interim Owens President John Satkowski will conduct John Philip Sousa’s
"Washington Post March."
North Coast ensembles to perform in Bowling Green
The North Coast Concert and Big Bands will perform Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Bowling
Green City Schools Performing Arts Center, 539 W. Poe Road.
The Concert Band will present Sousa marches, the "Black and White Rag," a
James Swearingen arrangement of Brahms’ lullaby, and a medley of Abba hits. The
clarinet section will be featured in Leroy Anderson’s "Clarinet Candy.
Other soloists will be trumpeter Barbara Werner and percussionists Jeff Gray and
Tim Rotsinger.
The North Coast Big Band will add a variety of dance band favorites to the concert.

Art Walk seeks exhibitors
Area artists working in all media are invited to participate in the annual Downtown
Bowling Green Art Walk on Saturday, April 28.
Galleries will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature a variety of artists
from throughout the region.
The day will conclude with an After Art Walk Party and People’s Choice Awards, held
at Grounds for Thought at 6 p.m. Visual artists may display their work in a
downtown business or at the community gallery.

Sculptor to discuss her art
St. Louis sculptor Jill Downen will discuss her work as part of the BGSU ARTalks
series Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union theater, room 206
on the Bowling Green State University campus.
Clarinet, flute showcased by Toledo Symphony Orchestra
TOLEDO – Clarinetist David Shifrin will return to the Toledo Symphony Orchestra as a
featured soloist Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Toledo Museum of Art
Peristyle.
The orchestra, conducted by Stefan Sanderling, will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No.
7.
Shifrin will perform Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2 and join the
orchestra’s principal clarinetist Georg Klaas Amilcare Ponchielli’s "Il
convegno: Divertimento for Two Clarinets.
Flutist Joel Tse will be the soloist on Bright Sheng’s "Flute Moon," which
opens the performance.

Church hosts organ recital
FINDLAY – Organist Joshua Brodbeck, a Findlay native, will perform Sunday at 3 p.m.
in the sanctuary of The First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main St.
Joshua Brodbeck began his concert career in Slovenia, Europe at the age of 12. Since
then, he has given many concerts throughout the United States. He studied at
Capital University and The Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University.
