Sunset jazz honors Etta James

GRAND RAPIDS – The Sunset Jazz & Art Festival will feature a tribute to the
late rhythm and blues diva Etta James Sunday from 2:30 until sundown on the
towpath along the Maumee River.
Each of the festival’s five acts will include a song associated with James in their
sets.
The eighth annual event features top regional jazz performers and booths featuring
area arts and crafts.
As in the past Sixth Edition, a vocal jazz ensemble from Toledo, will conclude the
show with a set at 7:15 p.m.
Also on the bill will be:
• Jazz vocalist Morgen Stiegler, 2:30 to 3:15 p.m.
• Vocalist Anna Givens, 3:45 to 4:30 p.m.
• Vocalist Sheila Fleming, 5 to 5:45 p.m.
• The Bob Rex Quartet, 6 to 6:45 p.m.
Suzanne Carroll, host of The Jazz Brunch radio show Sundays on 101.5 "The
River", will serve as master of ceremonies.
In addition, the Grand Rapids Boy Scouts sell popcorn, hot dogs, pulled pork
sandwiches and other food items, as well as water and soft drinks. The Grand
Rapids Arts Council sells beer and wine.
All downtown businesses will also be open during the festival.
