Cebar & Milwaukeeans to close Black Swamp Arts Festival
Roots rockers Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans have been booked to close out the Black
Swamp Arts Festival.
The band, which played the festival in 2002, will perform Sept. 9 at 3:30 on the
festival’s main stage. It features a mix of classic soul and Latin grooves.
The festival opens Sept. 7 with music from 5 p.m. to midnight with headliners Sallie
Ford and the Sound Outside and The Bright Light Social Hours, and continues with
the art exhibit, music on three stages and youth art activities, Sept. 8 and 9.
Rock and Rock Hall of Famer Booker T. Jones will perform at 6:20 p.m. Sept. 8.

Silverbacks to play tunes from new record at DeGage
MAUMEE – The group of local musicians known as the Silverbacks will perform a show
Friday and Saturday from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Degage Jazz Cafe, 301 River Road,
promoting the release of their new recording.
The vinyl recording will be officially released at the Black Swamp Arts Festival
Sept. 7, 8 and 9 in downtown Bowling Green. The session was recorded live in a
series of concerts early this year at Grounds for Thought in Bowling Green.
In addition to previewing music from the new recording, the band will play new
material.
Performing at DeGage will be Michael Peslikis, on piano, Bob Manley, on saxophones
and flutes, John Johnson on bass and Dr. Roger Schupp on drums.
Pianist featured act for Jazz On the Maumee
TOLEDO – Pianist Ben Langlois will present the Jazz On the Maumee concert Aug. 22
from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Aqua Lounge at The Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N Summit St.
Admission $10.
The weekly series is sponsored by the Toledo Art Tatum Jazz Society and
Fiber art exhibit to open in Owens’ Findlay library
FINDLAY – "Off the Hook," an exhibit of hand-woven fiber artwork depicting
nature by Sharon Hammer Baker and Janice Ryan, will open at Owens Community
College’s Library Gallery Monday.
A a reception and gallery talk for Hammer Baker and Ryan will be held Sept. 12 from
6-8 p.m. The show, with about 20 pieces, continues through Sept. 27.
Hammer Baker and Ryan, both of Findlay, have shown their work in numerous exhibitions
throughout the region.

Poor Young Things’ tour brings Canadian rockers to Toledo
TOLEDO – Canadian rockers Poor Young Things will perform Saturday at 9 p.m. at
Frankie’s Inner City, 308 Main St.
Originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, the band is now based in Toronto.
The band is now on its first U.S. tour promoting its EP "Let It" with the
single "Blame It On The Good Times"
Tickets for the 21 and over show are $8 at the door.
