Perrysburg girl honored for Cocoon Shelter project

Angela Pantorno

PERRYSBURG – Angela Pantorno, a junior at Perrysburg High School, has been in Girl Scouts for 12 years.

She is in the process of earning her Gold Award, which is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. She
chose to do her project with the Cocoon Shelter in Bowling Green, which is safe place for battered women
and their children.
To increase the educational and enrichment value of activities for children at the shelter, Angela
assembled care bags and filled them with activities as well as a surplus of items to restock the bags.
She has been working on this for over a year and put in over 91 hours toward this project.
Angela was nominated by Deidra Bennett at the shelter to receive its Distinguished Youth Service Award
for her outstanding service and commitment to meeting the needs of battered women and their children.

She received the award Wednesday at the Cocoon Shelter’s annual dinner.
