Wine festival is June 25
FINDLAY – The third annual Reineke Family Dealership’s Riverside Wine
Festival will be June 25 from noon to 8 p.m. at Findlay’s Riverside
Park. It will feature 10 Ohio wineries, craft beer tastings, local
gourmet foods, fine arts and crafts, live entertainment, art
invitational and demonstrations.
The event will feature the following wineries: Chateau Tebeau (Helena),
Firelands Winery (Sandusky), Hermes Vineyards & Winery (Sandusky),
Hillside Winery (Gilboa), Klingshirn Winery (Avon Lake), Paper Moon
Vineyard (Vermillion), Shamrock Vineyards (Waldo), Soine Vineyards
(Powell), Stoney Ridge Winery (Bryan), and Viking Vineyards and Winery
(Kent).
Attendees will be able to purchase a variety of foods from local restaurants.
Live entertainment will be provided by musicians covering a variety of genres.
A variety of demonstrations will be held throughout the day at 1:30, 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
Artists to be featured include Jason Wagner, Ziss Custom Glass and Sarah Thiel-Gaberdiel.
Admission is $18 in advance (through June 24) and $20 at the gate.
Admission includes a commemorative glass and 10 one-ounce tastings.
Event attendees may purchase additional tasting tickets, glasses of wine
and sealed bottles to take home. Those under 21 and non-tasters can
attend for $10. Children in strollers are free.

Class on preserving/copying old photos is Saturday
FREMONT – Professional photographer Gilbert Gonzalez will discuss how to
copy and preserve family photographs Saturday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at
the Hayes Presidential Center.
Admission to the class is $10/adult and $5/students through high school age. Pre-registration at (419)
332-2081 is requested.
Gonzalez is head of photographic resources at the Hayes Presidential
Center. He is responsible for the center’s varied collection of historic
images, including their long-term preservation and duplication for use
by the center, authors, individuals, and academics. During the class, he
offers tips, tricks, and techniques for digitizing photographs,
documents, and small objects. He also explains basic use of software
editing and tagging (adding keywords) of photographs for both print and
online usage. Gonzalez includes demonstrations of the proper use of
digital cameras, flatbed scanners, and slide/negative scanners to make
copies of original photographs.
Kids’ fish contest is Saturday
VAN BUREN – A Kids’ Big Fish Contest will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Van Buren State Park.

It will be held at the west end by the dam.
Age categories are 4-7, 8-12 and 13-16. Prizes will be given for the biggest fish in each category.
Some bait and poles will be provided while they last. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
