UHC blood drive Weds. in BG
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held Wednesday from 1 to 6 p.m. at United Home Comfort, 502
Pearl St.

Port Authority to meet Weds.
The Wood County Port Authority has called a special meeting for Wednesday to discuss acquisition of the
Westside Corridor.
The 7:30 a.m. meeting will be held at the Northwest Water and Sewer District, 12560 Middleton Pike.
East Side group meets Thursday
The East Side Residential Neighborhood Group’s annual meeting will be Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Meeting
Room of the First United Methodist Church, 1506 E. Wooster St.
City Prosecutor Matt Reger will be the speaker.
Final First Friday at Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – The final First Friday of the year will be held in the downtown Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
The event will feature a petting zoo, including such animals a donkeys, llama, goats, and other
creatures.
Among the other activities will be chalk mazes, pumpkin decorating, face painting, the YMCA Fun Bus,
Chortie the Clown, unicyclist Pat Bruen, Toledo Walleyes Mascots Spike and Cat Trick, and a Winterfest
ice carving demonstration.
Senior services Kiwanis program
The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club’s program at noon Thursday at Stone Ridge Golf Club is titled, Making a
Difference: The Wood County Committee on Aging.
Jim Stainbrook, director of fiscal and facility operations for the WCCOA will present the program. The
agency’s roots date to 1973 when citizens held a meeting to define the need for a senior center. Among
the services provided by WCCOA for homebound senior citizens are home-delivered meals, medical
transportation and caregiver information and education.
Rotary to learn about Toledo Zoo
Toledo Zoo Education Manager Linda Calcamuggio will be the speaker at Thursday’s meeting of the Bowling
Green Rotary Club.
The club meets at 11:45 a.m. at Bowling Green Country Club.

Way Library hosts ‘Reel Talk’
PERRYSBURG – Way Library will open its 11th year of Reel Talk, its classic movie series, on Thursday with
a seldom-seen MGM musical "Athena."
Combining the then-novel topic of physical fitness with Hollywood song and dance, the film stars Debbie
Reynolds and Jane Powell as daughters in an oddball, health-conscious family.
Vic Damone and Edmund Purdom play their smoking, boozing beaux. "Athena," filmed in
Technicolor, was released in 1954.
Evan Chase, chairman of Toledo’s Lyric Photoplay Society and coordinator of the Maumee Indoor classic
film series, will be the guest speaker.
The film will be shown at 10 a.m. No reservations are necessary. Admission and refreshments are free.
The library is located at 101 E. Indiana Ave.
