TOLEDO – Visitors 60 and over can reconnect with memories of the Toledo Zoo down through the decades at
Senior Discovery Days, being held in September and October.
Each Tuesday (Sept. 13, 20 and 27, and Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25) brings free admission and special events
such as guided tours of its Works Progress Administration (WPA)-era buildings, bingo, big band music and
miniature golf.
In addition to these Tuesday events, each weekday there is free parking in the Anthony Wayne Trail lot,
free fresh-brewed coffee and a mini-muffin in the zoo’s North Star Trading Post, and more.
Senior Safari will be held Sept. 20. The Toledo Zoo and the Area Office of Aging present this day of fun
focused on seniors, including health screenings, exercise, safety tips and full exploration of zoo
exhibits. Lunch will be provided in the Nairobi Pavilion; tickets may be purchased in advance by calling
the Office on Aging at (419) 382-0624.
Tours of WPA-era buildings, including the Museum of Science, aviary, aquarium and reptile house, begin at
11 a.m. and last 30 to 60 minutes. To reserve a spot on a specific tour, call (419) 385-5721, ext. 2110.

In September and October, the zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends
in September. It is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (U.S. 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo.
Lucas County residents are admitted free of charge each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. ID showing proof of
residency is required.
