Riverside fest features jazz

GRAND RAPIDS – Some of the region’s favorite jazz musicians will be down by the riverside Sunday from 2
to 9 p.m. for the Sunset Jazz Festival along the towpath of the Maumee River.
The festival opens at 2 p.m. with "Organized" a celebration of the Hammond B3 organ featuring
Tim Tiderman at the keyboard with Bob Manley, saxophones and flute, John Johnson, guitar, and Bob Rex,
drums.
Nite Flite, a duo of Bruce "Sandy" Nelson and Sam Miller, will provide more organ jazz at 2:40
p.m. followed by Denny McDonald, who studied with jazz organ innovator Milt Bruckner, at 3:20 p.m.
Multi-instrumentalist Gene Parker, of Perrysburg, will demonstrate his B3 skills backed by drummer Damon
Cook at 4 p.m.
The Murphys – bassist Clifford Murphy and pianist Clifford Black with vocalist Anna Givens – will take
the stage from 5 to 6 p.m.
The headliners, the vocal jazz ensemble Sixth Edition, begin at 6 p.m. and will perform until sunset.
Suzanne Carroll, the producer and host of the Sunday morning Jazz Brunch on 101.5, The River, will be the
emcee.
Food, wine, beer, pop and bottled water will be available. Coolers are not allowed.
