Spaghetti served to benefit Haitian school on Wednesday
PERRYSBURG – First United Methodist Church will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner to benefit the
Brad Riddick School in Savanette, Haiti, Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 4-10. The meal is free for children under 4.
Tickets are available at the church office, 200 W. Second Street.
All of the proceeds will support water projects for the school, through Mission International of America.

Kelly returns to St. Al’s with a healing service
Frank Kelly is returning to St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Kelly was working in construction in 1985, when
he was electrocuted by what should have been a lethal dose of electricity. Not only did he survive, but
the incident literally shocked him into turning his life around. His book, "Short Circuit to
God" tells his story. The church will hold a Mass celebrated by Father Mark Davis on Tuesday at 7
p.m., followed by a healing service led by Kelly.
One Spirit to lead service
TONTOGANY – One Spirit Quartet will bring a "message in song" on Sunday to Tontogany
Presbyterian Church, located on Main Street, at the 10 a.m. service.
The public is invited to attend. A lunch will be served following the service.
Fall festival set
Hope Lutheran Church, 13507 Cloverdale Road, will be having a Fall Harvest Festival on Oct. 9 from 2 to 4
p.m. Organizers indicate "there will be fun for all ages," including pumpkin painting,
hayrides, homemade kettle corn, crafts and more.
All proceeds will go toward Hope’s Sunday School outreach activities. The festival is designed to provide
entertainment for the whole family.

Steak dinner planned
PORTAGE – The annual baked steak dinner will be Sunday at the Portage United Methodist Church. Serving
begins at noon and continues until all meals are sold.
The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
Time capsule to be opened
PEMBERVILLE – On Oct. 9, Pemberville United Methodist Church will open up a time capsule members buried
in 2000.
The capsule contains several pictures and artwork from the Sunday School children as well as other
artifacts from church members. At the 11 a.m. service that day Pastor Peter Johnston will read a letter
he wrote and placed in the capsule 11 years ago.
There will be a luncheon to follow, where the full contents of the capsule will be on display. All are
invited to join the church members as they celebrate the past and look toward the future.
Supporting mental health task force with prayer
The public is invited to join Toledo Area Ministries’ Mental Health Task Force in connection with NAMI
Toledo on Oct, 9, at 6 p.m. for a gathering of people concerned about and suffering with mental illness.
The event will be held at Glenwood Lutheran Church, 2545 Monroe Street, Toledo. Those attending will
gather a community of faith to learn, pray, and dwell in God’s presence. The program will conclude with
a candlelight prayer and song time.
All are invited who have a heart for people with mental illness, to support them and family members of
those with mental illness.
Senior CSI event set
PERRYSBURG – CSI, Christian Seniors Interacting, invite all seniors in the area to attend its next
meeting to be held Oct. 11 at Abundant Life No. 2, 200 Zoar Drive, Perrysburg. The event is held twice
each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is a $3 charge for expenses.
The 11:30 a.m. Bible study will be led by Elder Dennis Miller of Hope in Christ Church. Lunch is served
at noon, provided by Interim Health Care.
The program which follows will be "Amelia Earhart" by Mary Ellen Pratt.

Toledo group receives grant
WATERVILLE – Earlier this month, Toledo Area Ministries accepted a 2011 grant for $5,1000 from the Zion
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waterville’s Mission Endowment Fund. The grant will be used to purchase a
delivery truck for the ministry.
Pfeiffers in Findlay
FINDLAY – The Pfeiffers will provide a free concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Upper Room Church of God,
520 W. Bigelow Ave., Findlay. The public is invited. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Christian writers to meet
"Writing for the Current Climate and Market Trends" will be one of the topics addressed at the
23rd annual Northwest Ohio Christian Writers seminar.
Melissa Wuske, editor of Writer’s Digest will address that topic and others at the seminar to be held
Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holland Free Methodist Church, 6605 Angola Road, Holland.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
