Show of Bonham’s oils opens tonight at art-a-site!
"Piece by Piece", an exhibit of original oil paintings by local artist Sarah Catherine Bonham,
will open with a reception for the artist tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at art-a-site! Gallery &
Studio, 116 S. Main St., Bowling Green.
Bonham describes her work in the following artist statement: "My view of the world is reflected in
my art. It represents life to me, dark and damaged, but also bold and vibrant. I always make a large
mess when creating and I love watching that disaster become something beautiful. Over time, I’ve learned
to take mistakes as they come and embrace them, not cover them up repeatedly. My technique is different
and varied because I don’t really have one. I do what I feel and rebel in every way possible in my
medium."
Born in West Millgrove, Bonham attended Elmwood High School where she took her first art courses. After
briefly attending the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, she continued to travel an study,
eventually moving to Bowling Green.
The exhibit continues through June 3.
