Rock the Docks to make waves in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG – A new opportunity to welcome the summertime to the city will kick -off Saturday.
The first ever Rock the Docks will be held at the Downtown Perrysburg Waterfront, next to the Perrysburg
Boat Club, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
"Rock the Docks, it’s an outdoor tent party," said Ashley Ward, program manager for the
nonprofit Downtown Perrysburg Inc., one of the sponsors of the event. "We’re going to have beer,
dancing, live music by the Top Heavies and Zeddie. We’re also going to have food provided by Casa Barron
and Vito’s Pizza. It’s a wonderful venue down by the river, too. Very picturesque."
Ward noted that Rock the Docks is a spin-off of a similar event that followed Harrison Rally Day last
year.
They "had a party called the Harrison Rally Day After-Party last year," she explained, noting
that Downtown Perrysburg brought the same idea into an earlier season.
"So this is the first June Rock the Docks."
"We just wanted a nice kickoff to the summer."
Band members from both the Top Heavies and their opening act, Zeddie, are graduates of Perrysburg High
School. The Top Heavies have performed in and around Columbus and Toledo for the past five years.
Originally from Perrysburg, the band plays a hybrid of ’70s dad-rock with ’90s pop rock. They released
their debut album, "Feed the Beast," in 2009.
"We are really looking forward to getting back home for Rock the Docks!" said bassist Ben
French in a press release. "It’s a great excuse for alumni to come home and current residents of
Perrysburg to all get together."
"We are very excited to play and enjoy a party in the downtown we all grew up in."
Local band Zeddie, led by Zak Ward, play their own take on songs from the 1960s through today.
The event is open to people 21 and older, and admission is $5. A beer tent will be featured.
Ward noted that all proceeds from Rock the Docks will go towards Downtown Perrysburg Inc., which is
dedicated to bringing events to the downtown area of the city.
