Songwriter Tom Gorman opens Rhythm on the River series
GRAND RAPIDS – Bowling Green singer-songwriter Tom Gorman will open the Rhythm on the River Arts Series
with a concert Sunday at 4 p.m.
Gorman’s songwriting has earned him honors as a Kerrville (Texas) Folk Festival Emerging Songwriter
Finalist in 1999. Tom’s writing credits also include award-winning music for children’s theater,
commercial jingles, and choral music.
The Rhythm programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the
Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Restaurant. The concert is free, so bring your
lawn chairs or blankets and join us in this beautiful setting alongside the Maumee River and enjoy the
unique talents of Tom Gorman.
The Series is sponsored by the Grand Rapids Historical Society.
Robertson to blow glass, Baker band to play at event
TOLEDO – Local glass artist Les Robertson will be demonstrating glass blowing techniques at the Glass
Pavilion of the Toledo Museum of Art on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m.
Live music will be provided by the Joe Baker Band.
‘Rude, crude’ Bob Cook to headline Comedy Night
Columbus comedian Bob Cook will headline Comedy Night Tuesday at 9 p.m. at Grumpy Dave’s, 104 S. Main
St., Bowling Green.
His comedy is described "rude, crude and out of control… dark and dirty."
Russ Hartsel is the featured act.
Tickets are $5 and $3 for students.

Michelangelo documentary focus of Reel Opinions
PERRYSBURG – The Reel Opinions film series sponsored by Way Library and WGTE Public Media will show
"Secrets of the Dead: Michelangelo Revealed" on June 16, at 10:30 a.m. on the lower level of
the library. A discussion will follow at approximately 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
This program will air on Channel 30 on June 15, at 8 p.m.
"Secrets of the Dead: Michelangelo Revealed" exposes the cover-ups, vendettas and brave
religious expression which are the "dark side" of the master artist.

Blues diva Magness headlines area food bank benefit show
SYLVANIA – Award-winning blues and soul vocalist Janiva Magness will headline the Blues & Jazz
Festival Saturday from 3 p.m. at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Road.
Magness will be performing songs from her latest Alligator Records release, "The Devil Is An Angel
Too." Magness won the 2009 Blues Music Awards for B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award.
Magness will take the stage at 10 p.m.
Also on the program will be:

¥ Ron Yarosz & The Vehicle, 6 p.m.
¥ Jazz organist Tony Monaco, 8 p.m.
