BG Community band pays homage to vets

The Bowling Green Area Community Band under the direction of Thomas Headley will open its fifth season by
presenting a free Patriotic Community Concert to honor all veterans Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Bowling Green
Schools Performing Arts Center.
This concert will be Headley’s inaugural concert as conductor. The band will honor all branches of the
military by playing a wide range of music from the Civil War era to the present, including Sousa marches
and the "Star Spangled Banner".
Headley was formerly the assistant conductor and member of the French horn section. He comes to the band
with extensive experience leading the Bowling Green City School Band program for 29 years.
Allison Esposito will be the featured soprano soloist, singing music from the World War II era, including
"Blue Moon" by Rodgers and Hart, and "Someone to Watch Over Me" by George Gershwin.
She is a BGSU graduate with degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance. She is currently teaching
voice and piano at Esposito Studios in Perrysburg.
Assistant Conductor Bruce Corrigan, who plays percussion and arranges music for the band, will conduct a
medley of music by the rock band "Chicago."
Conductor Laureate Nick Ezzone, having stepping down from conducting the band during its first four
years, has now picked up his trumpet and joined his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson in the trumpet
section.
