Uganda Film Project benefit at art-a-site!
A benefit art auction to assist the Uganda Film Project will be held Friday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at
art-a-site!, 116 S. Main St, Bowling Green.
The event featuring work by about three dozen area artists was scheduled to be held across the street at
BG Hats & Apparel, but a fire Wednesday in that building forced the relocation of the event.
Irish dance tonight
The traditional Irish music ensemble, Toraigh an Sonas, led by Bob Midden and Mary Dennis, will host a
traditional ceili dance with instruction provided by Lucy Long and traditional Irish set dance with
instruction provided by David Braun tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1021 West Wooster
St.
There will also be a soda bread judging contest as well as other refreshments.
‘Bye, Bye Birdie’ auditions to be held
GRAND RAPIDS – The Historical Society of Grand Rapids will hold auditions for its summer musical
"Bye, Bye Birdie" at the town hall Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Directed by Sam Macera, the cast calls for nine major teen roles and 16 major male roles as well as a
teen chorus and minor adult roles.
The show will be staged July 8, 9 and 10 during Rapid Rally Days.
PRIZM sponsoring fused glass workshop
PERRYSBURG – PRIZM Creative Community is sponsoring a fused glass workshop in Frit Techniques for those
with prior glass experience.
Taught by local artist Ann Hymel, two sessions will be offered – May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and May
7 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., both at the "FUSED" Studio, 114 W. South Boundary Suite B.
Additional sessions to the project and shaping options are also available.
Deadline to register is Tuesday. Each session is limited to 10 students. Fees for the class are $90 for

Barbershop concert set
FOSTORIA – The Fostoria Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus will present "The Sun, the Moon, and the
Stars" Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Fostoria High School Performing Arts Center.
Along with the Lakes Plains Chorus, chapter quartets Domino Effect, Esprit de Chords, Four Winds, Heart
and Soul, Just 4 Fun, and Paragon will be performing. Special guest quartet is Bustin’ Loose.
Tickets are $14 at the door.
An afterglow meal with performances by the quartets will also be offered. Tickets are $7 at the door.
German chorus holds open house for singers
OREGON – The Teutonia Männerchor & Damenchor Northwestern Ohio’s German-American ethnic chorus
presents "Spring Fling", an open house to acquaint potential singers with the chorus, Monday
from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Oak Shade Hall, 3624 Seaman Road.
Dating back to 1867, the chorus performs a wide variety of songs in German and in English about the
beauty of nature; love, courtship and marriage; friendship; songs about singing; silly songs and also
sacred music.
The chorus sings numerous concert performances in the Toledo area including the annual Christmas Concert,
annual Spring Concert with guest choruses, singing in area churches, nursing homes and civic events. The
Teutonia participates in national and district song festivals and visits choruses in other cities, as
well as hosting choruses in Toledo. The Teutonia is the one of the sponsors of the annual
German-American Festival.
Auditions or the ability to speak or read German are not required. The chorus rehearses Monday evenings.

Merriment theme of early music concert
TOLEDO – Musica Antigua de Toledo will present "Eat, Drink, & Be Merry," a concert of
music celebrating Medieval and Renaissance merriment Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church,
915 N. Reynolds Road.
Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors and $2 for students.
