MAC volleyball tourney moves
CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference volleyball tournament for 2011 and 2012 will be played at SPIRE,
part of the GaREAT family, located in Geneva, Ohio.
SPIRE Sports Complex and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will act as co-hosts of the event, which
had been held at the Toledo SeaGate Centre from 2006-2010.
In addition to the venue change, the tournament will now only take the MAC’s top eight teams instead of
all 12 as in the past. The reduction will eliminate first-round matches at campus sites.
Owens men lose
LANCASTER – Sixth-seeded Owens Community College was a 79-66 loser to third-seeded Columbus State in the
quarterfinals of the Region XII, District 10 tournament.
Columbus pulled away down the stretch after Owens tied the game at 57 with 6:22 remaining.
Rossford High School graduate Tommy Kralovic led Owens with 16 points and four rebounds. He was 4-of-7
from the field, including, 4-of-6 from 3-point range. He also was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Owens finished 10-21, while Columbus improved to 24-7.
Rossford boys tickets on sale
ROSSFORD – Tickets for Rossford’s sectional final boys basketball game are on sale during school hours
through Friday at 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs face Toledo Scott Friday night at Clay High School, starting at 8.
Advance tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6.
